Mallorca holds a special place in our hearts. This beautiful Mediterranean island is where I tried road cycling for the first time, and I was instantly hooked! The stunning landscapes and golden light make every ride unforgettable, and since that first experience, we haven’t stopped coming back.
After having organised three Mallorca Moloko escapes, it felt only right to host our first women’s escape abroad on this special island.
Day1: Shake Out Ride
Upon arrival, we kick off the adventure with a delicious lunch at the villa, soaking in the beautiful surroundings. We then get everyone set up with their bike rentals, ensuring all the girls have the right fit for a comfortable ride.
We separate into two groups ready to enjoy a shake-out ride in the country lanes around the villa. One group goes on a 40km ride to the charming village of Petra, enjoying the beautiful scenery along the way. Meanwhile, the second group opts for a 20km ride that focuses on honing their skills in group riding and mastering gears.
It's a fantastic way to build confidence and camaraderie before hitting the roads together for some serious mileage tomorrow.
Day 2: Cap de Formentor
For our second day, we go after one of the typical Mallorca routes: “The Lighthouse Ride” at Cap de Formentor. This ride truly deserves its fame, with unbeatable views and gentle gradients that make it accessible for everyone. You can’t help but be in awe of the breathtaking scenery as you ride.
After soaking in the sights, we enjoy a lovely lunch by the beach in Port Pollenca, taking a moment to relax and recharge. We are 40km away from the villa, and even though the ride back is relatively flat through the picturesque countryside – the full 130km route is a challenge. Our beginner riders may feel a bit shattered by the end, but they also feel strong and empowered after conquering such a beast of a ride!
To cap off the day, we take a refreshing dip in the pool (perfect recovery for those tired legs) and reset with a beautiful dinner: house wine at golden hour with views on the Tramuntana mountains... dreamy!
Day 3: Sa Batalla & Col de Femenia
Sa Batalla is one of our favourite climbs in Mallorca and it never disappoints. With gorgeous views and friendly gradients, the 10km ascent from Caimari is accessible for everyone: steady pace up or full attack mode for those chasing trophies.
This is the longest climb ever ridden for all the girls on the trip so the group opts for party pace: the smiles at the top are everything! We take a well-deserved break at the iconic “petrol station,” refuelling with sweet treats and peach juice before the most epic descent: going down Col de Femenia to Pollenca was 15km of pure fun - highly recommend that loop!
Pollenca’s old town is our chosen stop for lunch, taking in the classic Mallorca vibes of the main square. We indulge in all things tapas and down our ice-cold cokes in minutes before heading back to the villa for another gorgeous evening.
Day 4: Palma
Rest day is here, and everyone needs it!
We start the day with a slow morning celebrating two birthdays and enjoying taking our time for breakfast. We then go to Palma for a stroll, some shopping (we raided Zara) and brunch at Spot. We really recommend taking time to enjoy the food scene in Palma: the city is full of incredible restaurants and does fusion cuisine like nowhere else.
Once back at the villa, it is all about pool time and chilling out whilst Carlos is cooking a giant paella on the terrace.
We finish the day feeling fully recharged for our 100km loop to the beach tomorrow.
Day 5: The Beach Loop
We set off for a flat ride along the camis, making our way to Cala Figuera for a lovely lunch.
The weather is gorgeous and and it's quite relaxing to cycle through all these flats country lanes - they're empty so we can pick up the pace.
Before we realise we've done 50km and are at stunning Cala Figuera! Those Mallorca coves on the east coast are iconic, and a swim is calling our names so after lunch, we head to Cala Santany for a sea dip and ice cream before riding back.
As we pedal through the countryside at golden hour, the scenery is simply breathtaking and we're lucky to enjoy views of the iconic Serra de Tramuntana facing us on all the way back.
Day 6: Valdemossa and Col d'Orient
For our last ride of the week, we have another 100km loop planned with villages pit stops and of course some climbing.
The first up is the beautiful Col de Clarets. The switchbacks and winding roads treat us to breathtaking mountain views.
We then stop for coffee and pastries in Valdemossa, a perched town right in the heart of the Sierra Tramuntana. After recharging, we make our way back down before turning right up to Col d’Orient. We love this climb because of the great views, but keep in mind that the road surface there is a bit rough - not the place to send it!
Lunch is in colourful Alaro, which is another Spanish treat (although half of the crew opted for spaghetti!) and then all we have left is an easy 20km flat ride back home. The morales are so high when we finish: everyone is feeling so proud of what they've achieved this week, it was truly a special week.
It's now time for a tapas party and planning our next trip together because there is no way it finishes here.
Great news: for 2025 we're planning not one but two Women's Escapes!
We will head to the French Pyrenees in September and Mallorca in October - there are only a few tickets left so don't miss out...
Huge thank you to Sundays Insurance for supporting all our travels and Fettle for ensuring our bikes are safe to fly down the climbs!
