Straight into the Surrey Hills. The start of the ride runs along a lovely stretch of road skirting a local nature reserve.
After 16km, if you already fancy a hot drink, Heartwork Coffee Bar is the place to be. It’s a converted barn with fairy lights and many bike racks, their flat whites are top class as are their homemade cakes.
You’ll then climb the challenging Leith Hill before flowing along Abinger road. This is a stunning rolling segment and our number one photo spot on this trip.
Right after this, at 24 km, you’ll find The Plough Inn. A cyclist friendly pub & shop where you can use the toilets, refill your bidons, get coffee and cake.
More quaint (and sometimes quite steep) lanes are waiting for you and to finish this ride on a high you’ll climb the famous Box Hill.
The climb is stunning and the views on this National Trust Area are worth the effort.
As you know we often finish a ride at the pub, this time we went to The Bell at Fetcham. The food was great and they let us put our bikes in their beer garden (it’s much easier if you go when they are less busy, in the middle of the afternoon). As always, book ahead and ask about bikes.
Enjoy the ride!
